TGIF{13}? And what’s coming next week…

Friday the 13th.  For sure.

Today we were running late (or so I thought- in the end we were fine).  We had to stop for gas.  When we got to the gas station, the card reader was broken so I had to go…. into the actual STATION to pay for our gas.  I don’t think I’ve done that for at least 10 years.  It was weird.  I remember when we could start paying at the pump- it was soooo revolutionary.  But I digress.  I got back to the car and my daughter, Anna, was a sniveling mess.  She thought I was leaving them when she saw me go into the station.  Neat.

I walked around to the other side of the van to give her a wipe so she could clean up her face, and as I leaned into the car I toooootally biffed my head on the roof.  It felt… GREAT.  Instant headache.  I hit my head so hard that my son, Jack, said, “Oh, Mommy, you okay?”  at least four times in a row, like this: “Mommyyouokaymommyyouokaymommyyouokaymommyyouokay?????”  So sweet.  That boy is so adorable.

I’m starting my new job in the next week or so.  The best part?  It’s all on the computer, for the most part.  Rad.  More to come about that.

Next week I’m going to be participating in the SITS Girls Blog Challenge, also known as 31 Days to Build a Better Blog.  I’m hoping it won’t take over my posting too much- just some here and there.  But keep your eyes peeled- you may see some subtle changes around here.  {I nearly wrote “suttle” instead of “subtle.” Ha!}

My goals for my blog this year include

  • building my reader numbers and
  • figuring out how to use this here blog as a medium to achieve a creative life for myself.

We’ll see if that happens.  If you’re a blogger you should check it out- it’s a great way to find new blog friends and encourage each other.

Sorry for the lack of photos- sometimes you just need to write, eh?  Happy weekend to you!

  1. yay weekend! it promises to be another beautiful one, eh? yay i’m glad you’re doing the 31 days of blogging thing again. i love your blog! i hope i don’t comment too much. i know i could email or call you instead of commenting here. but i also know you like actual comments on your blog so i figure why not just comment here instead? don’t forget to just keep having fun with the blogging though. i used to blog more but i’m pretty boring so i quit blogging regularly. now i just blog for fun and for myself (turned off comments and quit posting my boring photos) so i can totally relate to that “sometimes you just need to write” feeling. as for your goals, i think you already successfully achieve creativity in your life, blog or no blog! blogs are definitely good for documenting projects and they’re good for that extra positive feedback and feel-good feeling when you know you’ve shared some good ideas that others find useful though. just don’t get too attached to watching the blog stats when it comes to counting readership! those that have their rss readers check for new content a billion times a day, and those like me who sometimes turn off images, disable java-script when browsing web pages, and use plug-ins to block things like ads (and web analytics) can really skew your stats. oh and there are also those like me who multitask and end up re-loading a web page a dozen times within minutes because i keep getting interrupted by this or that. anyway, i’ve had too many blogging friends take blog stats too seriously to the point that i actually feel like it’s affected the content of their blog (and not always in a positive way, in my humble opinion). just keep it real and keep having fun with it! looking forward to more posts from my favorite crafty momma blogger! =)

  2. oops i forgot to say – hope your head feels better. and can’t wait to hear more about your new job. awesome that it can be done remotely so it doesn’t take you away from your little ones. Have you seen this blog series on juggling work and motherhood by Joanna Goddard of Cup Of Jo (love her blog)? Check it out if you need some encouragement, it’s pretty rad! =)

    • DT, I love your comments- you are my loyal commenter and I love you for it. 🙂 Keep ’em coming. And you showed me that blog once before but I’m glad you pointed it out again- I have to put it in my feed. Thanks!

      • hi nat! i just updated my sidebar links on my site so i’m checking to make sure they all still work right. i haven’t seen your actual blog in awhile (i usually read your posts via my rss reader) so i don’t know when you changed the images on the top part. but i like it! so colorful! not that i didn’t like your eyes too. =)

  3. What? How did I not know that you are starting a new job … oh yeah, I was so busy rabbiting on you probably couldn’t get a word in edge wise :). Good luck, can’t wait to hear more about it. Sending you an icepack for your head. Poor you.

    • You were not rabbiting on! Head is better today- phew!
